What is Spring School?
It's our residential training course for those who want to work on the frontline of child sexual exploitation and trafficking in Brazil.
The three-month intensive course, during the months of March, April and May 2018, will prepare you for working with victims of abuse and sexual exploitation in Brazil.
Spring School forms part of our mission to resource and equip others who want to fight child prostitution along the BR-116.
Who is it for?
Anyone who wants to explore how they can use their life and gifts to fight child prostitution and trafficking.
The course focuses on the reality in which Meninadança works in Brazil, poor rural communities along major highways where child sexual exploitation has become a normal, accepted part of life.
Where will it take place?
Our training centre is in Jequitinhonha, a small rural town deep in the poor Jequitinhonha Valley region of Minas Gerais, southeastern Brazil, where you will spend two months.
You will live in simple yet comfortable accommodation with others on a similar journey to your own.
What will I learn?
You will leave with an in-depth understanding of the problem, and how you can be part of the solution.
Course modules include: working with sexually-exploited girls; human trafficking; generational abuse; reaching and empowering victims; community interventions; methods and strategies for change; project elaboration and management.
You will also plan and execute mini-projects in the local community. During your practical you will put what you have learned into action, making working directly with young victims of injustice and inequality.
How much will it cost?
£1200, which includes your accommodation, meals and transport during the course, as well as the cost of course materials, teachers, guest speakers and supervision. It doesn't cover the cost of your flights and transport to the training centre, health insurance or spending money.
